Dreaming of a little relaxation, peace, and a warm bath? Packed with amazing skin benefits, this Calendula Oatmeal Bath Soak is chock-full of excellent ingredients that are beneficial to your skin, body, and mind that it is like having a mini spa experience at home.

Having become a familiar ingredient in many all-natural beauty products oatmeal improves, repairs and soothes itching, dry, and irritated skin. The lovely orange-yellow flowers of the Calendula plant are known by herbalists universally to be extraordinarily healing for irritated and injured skin alike. Calendula encourages healing of wounds, bruises, and burns and is often used to promote skin repair.
I first used this soak for my son’s diaper rash when he was still a baby. His rash would heal within 24 hours. We still use it today for any instance with chafed, sore, bruised or irritated skin. I use it especially on evenings after getting in from tending to the gardens, as I get scrapes and scratches very easily. Since Calendula promotes healing, my scratches and torn skin would begin to heal, and scarring is minimal if any. It also helps on my dog's "hot spots" where he scratches from his allergies.
The ingredients are quite simple being oatmeal, baking soda, brown sugar, and Calendula. I grow my Calendula in organic gardens using mushroom compost and purchase the baking soda, brown sugar and oatmeal at the Amish Community in nearby Scottsville, Ky.
♥ Oatmeal battles dryness by issuing a protecting layer on the skin. It moisturizes, cleanses, and helps to support the skin’s natural barrier function. It also contains naturally occurring antioxidants that have been found to display anti-inflammatory properties. Oatmeal turns your bath water silky and milky and is fantastic for soothing dry and irritated skin. Many people submerge in colloidal (powdered) oatmeal to relieve skin conditions such as chicken pox, poison ivy rash, and eczema.
♥ Calendula, known as a wound-healing herb because it promotes cell repair and is antiseptic to prevent infection is widely used in cosmetics for its skin benefits and makes a strong addition to this bath. It is known to have natural restorative properties that infuse the skin with a youthful glow. Calendula is also used to protect the skin from premature aging and weakening of the skin. It is safe enough to be used on the delicate skin under the eyes to help prevent crow's feet.
♥ Baking Soda increases the pH of the skin, which soothes itchiness, helps to calm and reduce itchiness.

♥ Brown Sugar is the finest grain sugar. It contains vitamin B, specifically, Nicotinamide, a derivative of Vitamin B3 (Niacin), which has been shown to enhance the ability of the epidermis layer of the skin to retain moisture. Capacity to retain moisture leads to softer, smoother skin with less dryness and flakiness, and a reduction of fine lines.
Turn off your phone, pour that drink you love, turn on your favorite music, turn your mind to the great things in life, put on a smile and most importantly: soak your cares away. Think positive, happy thoughts and relax.
In addition to using this Bath Soak for you and your family, it would make a lovely gift for a teacher or Mother’s Day gift! I hope you enjoy the bath soak!

Instruction for Scrub: Ratio: 2 tsp scrub to 1/4 - 1/2 tsp liquid. Use water for normal skin. Use milk or cream for dry skin.

Instructions for Mask: After scrubbing, leave on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing.

Care Instructions:
Store this oatmeal soak in its original sealed container in your refrigerator for up to six months. Do not get water into the original container.

To create a luxurious and relaxing experience just add the Soak to your warm bath water. It feels amazingly silky and moisturizing. The baking soda serves as a natural and delicate cleanser, so there is no need to use any other soap. After you emerge from your soak, and skin is still wet, or while you are soaking in the tub, use as a scrub and mask!
My favorite way to use this soak is as a three-for-one! I draw my bath with warm water and hang my tea bag on the faucet. The water becomes beautifully and luxuriously milky. While the tub is filling, I prepare my scrub/mask in a small glass dish by scooping out 2 Tsp of the oatmeal mixture and blend with 1/2 tsp milk because my T-Zone is dry. (Use water if you have normal skin.) This ratio creates a grainy, pasty texture. Placing the glass dish in the corner of the tub, I submerge myself in the warm, milky, heavenly bath. After soaking for a few minutes, the steam and hot water have penetrated and opened my pores. I use my scrub by massaging in circular motions, starting at my nose outwards, on my face and neck. I then relax in the tub for another 10-15 minutes while the oatmeal acts as a mask, drying on my skin. Once the mask has dried, I rinse with warm water. Voila!
Versatile. This soak is safe for use on young infants, is excellent for soothing itchy skin for conditions like poison ivy and psoriasis, and also makes a great face mask.
