Meet the Maker
Hey there, I’m Jen — Certified Master Herbalist, Naturalist, and the one-woman force behind JBHomemade Sugaring & Skin Care (JS&S). Some folks around here call me the “Local Witch Doctor,” and I proudly accept that title with a dried herb bundle in hand and a heart full of intention. ✨
JS&S is more than just a skincare shop. It’s a living, breathing piece of my heart — rooted in a love for plants, healing traditions, and the belief that beauty and wellness should come straight from the Earth.
The Land We Live On
This journey started years ago on our homestead in rural Tennessee, after moving from West Palm Beach in 2009. Life out here shifted everything for me. We traded the noise of the city for 180 acres of quiet woods, heirloom vegetables, wild herbs, and history deep in the soil. The farmhouse itself was built in 1903 — and honestly, I think she whispers secrets when the wind hits just right.
What began as a personal search for natural, safe, effective skincare led me to the ancient art of sugaring — a method of hair removal passed down for generations using only sugar, lemon, and water. As someone deeply sensitive to chemicals, I instantly knew this was the way forward for me… and maybe for others, too. I’ve been making and using my own firm sugaring paste ever since.
Why I Left Etsy (But Still Appreciate It)
But JS&S didn’t grow just because of what I made — it grew because of what I shared. My background in herbalism and holistic living inspired me to begin teaching others about natural skincare, ingredient sourcing, rituals, and recipes. That’s why having my own website matters so much:

JS&S was never meant to be a big commercial brand. I’m not interested in mass production or watered-down skincare trends. I make everything in small, intentional batches — from salves to infused oils to my signature aloe vera and serums — often using herbs harvested straight from the garden. And when I’m not growing it, I’m sourcing it from trusted local Amish farms.
What I Make (And Why It Matters)
Every batch of salve, infused oil, sugaring paste, and herbal toner is made with ingredients I either grow myself or carefully source from local Amish farms. My small-batch, seasonal approach ensures each item carries the full integrity of its plant power.
You won’t find synthetics here. No artificial fragrance. No fillers. Just real, raw, whole ingredients the way nature made them.
They say home is where the heart is. For me, it’s where the roots run deep, and the healing began. Beyond the Shop
These days, I’m also a grandma (or “Mama Jen” as I’m known around here 💞), and that lens of legacy and healing runs even deeper now. I want to leave something behind that teaches — that comforts, that connects.
